Monroe County Helps Grandparents Raising
Grandchildren Grandparents who are raising grandchildren are
planning now for summer camp programs. If they live in Monroe
County, the Office for the Aging can give them a hand. The
Grandparents group in Monroe County plans summer day trips to
variuos parks and also coordinates overnight care for the children
while the grandparent caregivers escape to a hotel. The scholarship
money for this venture is raised through garage sales, bake sales
and other community efforts.

Caregiver Coordinator Summmit in Syracuse
The
2006 New York State Caregiver Coordinator Summit was held on May 3,
2006 in Syracuse. 39 people, including several AAA Directors
attended this day-long event. Several presentations were given,
including, "Performance Outcomes Measurement Project and Caregiver
Assessment," "Steuben County Trust Groups," and "Single Point of
Entry," before the group shared their programs' challenges and
successes in a round table format.
